Conservation Commission advances land conservation planning

CT MADISON — Madison Conservation Commission explores land conservation options for Opening Hill property sale. The Commission approved prior meeting minutes and discussed the approximately $2 million Opening Hill property with approximately 15 acres adjoining Cockaponsett State Forest, exploring conservation opportunities and protections. Members Amy Thomas and Heather Crawford are revising the Commission's draft conservation priorities and land use philosophy.
The Commission plans to form a "Congress of Committees" with other land-use agencies beginning in fall and schedules a beach erosion project for Friday, July 24 at Surf Club.
