CT MADISON — Madison's Zoning Board of Appeals approved two coastal variance requests on May 12. The board unanimously approved a variance for 61 Middle Beach Road West, owned by Little Bird LLC, to allow reconstruction of a single-family home to FEMA flood-compliance standards on a lot only 42.4 feet wide, where 80 feet is required. A second variance was approved for 22 Flower Avenue, owned by Micheal E.
Zarella and Rachel Narowski Zarella, to allow a 372-square-foot addition on a lot constrained by tidal wetlands; the board cited the property's prior 2008 hardship determination. Both coastal site plans were confirmed consistent with state management policies.
