The Town of Madison posted a roundup of upcoming events on Oct. 29, covering the weekly Farmers' Market, Halloween-themed hikes and a trunk-or-treat gathering.

The Madison Farmers' Market, established in 2007, runs every Friday afternoon from May through Thanksgiving on the Historic Town Green. Vendors sell Connecticut Grown and locally produced items including organic fruits and vegetables, mushrooms, meat, dairy, fish, bread, baked goods, honey and prepared foods. The First Congregational Church operates a donation tent at the market to support a community food initiative, accepting purchases made at the market, non-perishables, cash and extra fresh produce from home gardeners.

The Madison Land Trust is hosting two Murder Mystery Hikes on Halloween, Oct. 31. The hikes recount two unsolved 1800s Madison murders: the killing of Mary Stannard, a young unwed mother, and the death of collier Eldridge Johnson, who was found burned atop his charcoal mound. Registration is requested, and details are available through the Madison Land Trust.

The Madison Police Department and the Madison Chamber of Commerce are hosting a trunk-or-treat on the Green from 4 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31. The event will include live music, decorated car trunks and treats for the community.
